What a great article. It really puts some perspective on the importance of the website and its role in communication and the "work" it does for your business or organization. In the information business, 80%+ of knowledge building searches begin with a search engine-not with an individual website, person, or print source.

Plus your website works for you 24/7 with no overtime required.

I agree as well that this is a great article, as they say there is no such thing as a free lunch! From time to time I have heard of local gov'ts offering various grants. Recently the City of Newport had a "facade grant" program where business's could apply to recieve funds used to upgrade their storefronts. I don't know the specifics, but usually these grants will offset only a portion of the actual costs. I have never ran across a grant program that gives money solely to "start up" a business.!

This is an excellent article. We often get people who come to the library in search of grants for small business. My question is: what alternative that we should offer for people looking for financing information? I recommend SCORE and SBDC for more information on loans. Are any local governments issuing grants to small businesses (aka federal grants are flowing through them)? -Ann (Business Librarian, Kenton County Public Library)
